    About the Location:
In Volusia County the average temperature is 81 degrees in the summer and 62 degrees in the winter.  With famous attractions and many beautiful beaches, Daytona Beach is a well-known destination for vacationers and those seeking a warm, tropical lifestyle.

The Deltona-Daytona-Ormond Metropolitan Area had a 2006 population of 496,575.  Daytona Beach alone has a population of 64,421.  Those who choose to make their home in Daytona Beach will enjoy a comparatively lower cost of living while still living in convenient proximity to the goods and services of a metropolitan area.  Home to the headquarters of NASCAR, the International Speedway Corporation, and the LPGA, Daytona Beach is a favored getaway for weather chasers and vacationers.  World-famous events such as Speedweek, Bike Week, and Biketoberfest draw huge crowds of fans and tourists every year.  Although the Daytona 500 is no longer held on the sands, visitors are still permitted to drive directly onto "the World's Most Famous Beach," making it appealing and convenient for families.  For year-round residents there are excellent restaurants, shopping centers, movie theaters, and museums.

All 23 miles of beach in Volusia County are surfer-friendly, but locals know the best waves are found at Ponce Inlet and New Smyrna Beach.  Driving is permitted on Daytona Beach from sunrise to sunset, except during sea-turtle nesting season, when the beach is closed to traffic to permit these endangered sea creatures to lay their eggs and safely return to the water.

Daytona Beach boasts a rich history showcased by places like the Halifax Historical Museum and the Museum of Arts and Science.  It also has a strong tradition of celebrating fine and performing arts with events throughout the year, such as the Halifax Art Festival, Daytona Winterfest, Florida International Festival (featuring the London Symphony Orchestra), and the Summer Concert Series at the oceanfront Bandshell.

A short trip down I-95 brings visitors to Kennedy Space Center; I-4 leads to major attractions in Orlando including family attractions at Disney World, Sea World, Discovery Cove, shopping at the Mall at Millennia, and the night life of Church Street.  Busch Gardens Africa, historic Ybor City, and the Florida Aquarium are all located in nearby Tampa.
